Wedding Checklist...
Your wedding is a very special day for everyone because of all the wonderful and memorable things that happen. Planning your wedding is an exciting time for you both to share... choosing the ring, gazing at beautiful dresses, preparing your new home, these all need time. Five or six months before your day gives you plenty of time to enjoy all the preparations of getting married.
We have prepared a few helpful hints to ensure that your day flows as smoothly as the bride's gown.
- First Steps
The first thing you'll be planning for your wedding is the budget. Talk between yourselves and your respective parents about the kind of service you would like. You'll find that your parents will be of enormous help to you in discussing the budget: they'll have first-hand knowledge of the best way to allocate the money. On your very special day, you'll want the finest of things so plan carefully the style of reception and honeymoon.
When you have decided, go and visit your vicaror priest and make arrangements for your marriage ceremony. He will be of great help to you both and explain everything you'll need to do from walking up the aisle to saying 'I do'. If you wish, a rehearsal can be arranged to set your minds at ease and to assure you that it will all be perfect on your wedding day. Take this opportunity to apply for a marriage licence.
- Book your Reception
When you have the date, arrange and book your reception. We will be more than happy to offer you any advice on catering matters, styles of seating arrangements and anything else you may be unsure of.
You've probably discussed between yourselves who to invite, so make a check-list. It's so easy to forget somebody when you have so many people who'll want to be there on your special day. Think of all your relatives and friends on both sides and write them down for your respective mothers to compile a guest list.
- Bridesmaid and Best Man
It's now a good time to think of bridesmaids or attendants and the groom's aide... the best man. When your decision is made, you can start shopping for them. This is especially exciting for the bride and bridesmaids, going from shop to shop, almost spellbound by the beautiful selection of gowns and dresses available. The groom and best man can discuss their choice of attire too. Top hat and tails can be hired inexpensively for the day or they can choose to wear tailored suits.
- Other Services to Arrange
Transport: To avoid disappointment now is the perfect time for the groom to arrange transport for the wedding. Booking fairly well in advance will ensure you get first choice of the cars available.
Photographs: You will always want to be reminded of your wedding day. Really professional photographs make all the difference, so book your photographs now.
Travel Agents: one of the most delightful things you'll be doing is arranging your honeymoon, just to add to the wonderful events of the wedding. Whatever you decide, book your honeymoon well in advance so you won't have the disappointment of having to choose a compromise.
- Announcements
It's always exciting to see the announcements of your marriage in print; maybe you could place a little message in your local paper for your family and friends to cut out and keep.
You should now go to the printers too, and have your invitations specially printed. They will be able to show you a catalogue of the different styles available for your wedding stationery, invitations, place cards and so on.
- Final Arrangements
When you receive confirmation from the people you have invited, make a list so that you can plan catering and seating arrangements. You can take this time to select and order your wedding cake too.
Three months before your big day finalise your wedding attire. This will allow time for fitting and final touches.
Now is the time to call and finalise the reception. Check and confirm all other details to ensure your day will run smoothly and according to plan.
On the day before the wedding, deliver your cake, don't forget top tier arrangements, table plan, and place cards. Bring your Wedding Trousseau with you so that you can relax and totally enjoy your day without any more worries.
